USEFUL TIPS 

Dos and Don'ts during your Menstrual Cycle

Fatigue

Ensure sufficient rest, drink plenty of water, avoid lifting heavy objects and strenuous exercises.

Do not stand for a long time.

 

Hot Shower/Hair Wash

Take quick hot shower instead of bath to prevent infections. Avoid washing hair during the heavier flow (first few days of period). Dry your hair immediately and thoroughly after each wash, in order to prevent ‘cold wind’ entering the head that may lead to poor menstrual flow resulting in future gynaecological ailments.

Keeping Abdominal Areas Warm

Cut down on air-conditioning. If possible, put on long-sleeved trousers, keep the body, especially the abdominal areas warm.

 

Prevent Catching a Cold

When the body immunity declines, you can catch a cold more easily. Take extra care to ensure complete recovery.


 

Watch Your Diet

Consume nutritious food. Avoid spicy, heaty food, chilled and ‘cooling’ natured food or drinks.

Sanitary Care

Change sanitary pads or tampons frequently, every 2-3 hours, to avoid the breeding of bacteria. Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before and after each change.

 

Feminine Hygiene

Ensure you use clean water to wash your private parts. If any inflammation occurs, you may use over-the-counter wash but make sure the products are gentle and hypoallergenic.

Always keep area dry to prevent infection.

 

Menstrual Abnormalities

Seek early medical advice and treatment should you notice any abnormalities such as excessive or decreased blood flow, blood colour and unusual smell.
